Deacon of Student Ministry

TVC Responsibilities:
My responsibilities include serving on the Student Leadership Team, coordinating elements of student missions, and acting as a fun facilitator at Student Night.

When and how did the Lord save you?
I grew up in a church environment where my parents held prominent leadership titles, but our home lacked the daily, functional presence of Jesus. After relocating from Taiwan to Pittsburgh at 14, I felt profoundly isolated and fell into a severe depression. God’s providence intervened through a close friend and a school counselor, leading to an invitation to a Christian camp where I first gave my life to Christ. For years after, however, I still lived under the false impression that I had to earn His love through personal performance and constant emotional rededications. The true breakthrough occurred during my first semester of college. While reading the Gospel of Matthew, biblical truth finally penetrated my heart: Jesus did not come to make me “good enough,” but rather came to make me His. I realized salvation was a gift of pure grace rather than a reward for my behavior, causing me to finally surrender to His Lordship. Now, 30 years later, my life stands as a direct testimony to a sovereign God who relentlessly pursues the runner and redeems the broken.

When did you come to TVC and what brought you here?
We came to TVC in the summer of 2017 after moving to the DFW area from Maryland. I was initially hesitant about joining a megachurch because I was concerned about finding an intimate space where my children could get structurally rooted. That hesitation vanished when my husband shared a video clip of Matt Chandler addressing the Charlottesville riots. Seeing that level of raw biblical clarity convinced me that TVC would be a safe, faithful environment to raise my family.

If you had to give a TED Talk, what subject would you choose to speak on, and why?
I would speak on the unique beauty of the nonlinear brain.

Which fictional character would you be friends with in real life, and why?
I would definitely be friends with Molly Weasley from the Harry Potter book series. I love how she seamlessly manages chaotic environments while still making every individual feel deeply seen, safe, and fully known.
